This time focus on AI features, will bring the thinnest phone; no foldable phone expected
Apple will present the iPhone 17 series in its launch event ‘Away Dropping’ on September 9. There has not been much innovation in Apple’s products in the last few years. This time too, it is being speculated that Apple is going to present this series with minor changes.
Many people believe that Apple has not made any major innovations since the death of the company’s founder Steve Jobs in 2011. On the other hand, companies like Samsung are moving ahead rapidly with foldable phones, AI and new hardware. So is Apple now lagging behind in this race?

innovation
Apple has lagged behind in innovation in the last few years. After the departure of Steve Jobs, under the leadership of Tim Cook, Apple introduced products like AirPods (2016) and Vision Pro (2023), but many believe that these products are not as revolutionary as those of Jobs’ era.
2 reasons why Apple is lagging behind Samsung
1 . Samsung’s innovation first policy Samsung was the first to introduce new features like foldable phones, style integration (S Pen) and fast charging. In 2019, Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip with foldable screens.
That is why it maintains its lead in the foldable market. Apple does not have any foldable device yet. Samsung’s global market share in the foldable phone segment is 35.4%
2. Follow market trends fast
Samsung manufactures its own components, which gives it control over costs and innovation. This allows Samsung to quickly adapt to market trends, such as the popularization of large screen phones with the Galaxy Note.
Apart from this, Samsung has also rapidly adopted AI. Its Galaxy AI offers features like real-time translation, photo editing, and SmartThings ecosystem.
These features are being liked a lot in multilingual markets like India. Apple’s Apple Intelligence came late and is still limited.

innovation
If Apple does not bring revolutionary innovation in the long run, its market share and brand value may decline. Brands like Samsung are ahead in foldable phones and AI.
Established brands like Nokia and Blackberry disappeared from the market due to lack of innovation. Apple is unlikely to suffer the same fate as Nokia or Blackberry because its ecosystem and financial strength protect it. But it can certainly fall behind.
